How to become a

Science For Her mentor

Science for Her mentors support 14–16 year olds by offering shadowing sessions.

What are shadowing sessions?

In these sessions, students from your local Stem Talent Girl centre spend two hours with you at work. The sessions can also be held by videocall. The aim is for students to see, first-hand and in a real-world context, what a STEM career entails. Supported by a mentor like you, it helps young women understand what an engineer, mathematician, scientist or technologist really does. The sessions last 2 hours and take place after lunch.

Mentor Woman mentor

Mentor Woman mentors form part of a mentoring programme aimed at 16–18 year olds.

How does mentoring work?

At the beginning of each school year, each STG student will select a STEM Talent Girl mentor to provide her with monthly vocational guidance, points of reference and support in her area of interest. The programme runs from November to May and each monthly online mentoring session will last 1 hour. In total, there are 7 sessions. Mentors will have access to a mentors’ mentor, who’ll provide you with the coaching and mentoring tools you need deliver top-class tutoring.

Real Work mentor

Real Work mentors form part of a mentoring programme for female university students.

HOW ARE THESE MENTORINGS DONE?

Each STG student will choose at the beginning of each school year a mentor from the Stem Talent Girl community who will guide her professionally on a monthly basis, providing her with references and help in her area of ​​interest. These mentoring sessions will last 1 hour per month, and will take place virtually from November to May. In total there are 7 sessions. The mentors will have at your disposal a mentor of mentors. She will help you by giving you coaching and mentoring tools so that you have the necessary resources for the correct tutoring of the students.
